How I used autosomal DNA to break thru a Brick Wall on my Morgan line in 1800, and then used Y-DNA to verify the genealogy back to the 1650s. But getting back to Wales is proving more of a challenge ...

Ideintifying the Missing Soldiers of WWI

Over 338,000 soldiers are still missing-in-action from World War I, without a proper grave or gravestone to their names. Every year 30-60 sets of remains are found on the Western Front, but using current identification methods, many of them remain unidentified. The advent of Investigative Genetic Genealogy holds out new hope for those who remain unidentified after traditional methods are exhaus...

    Great to hear it all explained. I really want a way to find a way to connect our Annie O'Malley of Islandeady, Mayo to the correct family. Amazing if she related to Grace . Is it worthwhile as descendants of the female O 'Malleys to take any of these other FDNA tests to explore further connections ?

    • @DNAandFamilyTreeResearch
      @DNAandFamilyTreeResearch Рік тому

      Hi Andrea, it would be great to get the Y-DNA of a male O'Malley from Islandeady. They may be related to Charles of Cloonane, whose line is supposed to have died out in 1918. So if you can find a brother or male relative who is willing to ado the test, please do! And for yourself, you could do the autosomal DNA test (i.e. test at Ancestry, transfer a copy of your results to FTDNA, and join the O'Malley DNA Project). This is particularly useful for exploring how you might be related to other neighbouring O'Malley families, and you might even find an O'Malley male who would be a suitable target for testing (and who could act as your proxy).

      Hi Brian, simply make a screen recording of the slides whilst you have the audio on. Change the slides in time with the audio. When you have the finished video, detach the video's audio and insert the pre-recorded audio in its place. Make sure that you have lined it up correctly. I use iMovie for this bit.
